About
I'm Praveen. I build event-driven pipelines and the reconciliation that checks them.
I'm a backend and distributed systems engineer in Austin, Texas. I've spent 14 years designing and operating large-scale services, mostly in Java on AWS.
Nine of those years were at Amazon, in Seattle and then Austin, across five roles. The longest was Last Mile, where I owned the telemetry pipeline for the delivery associate app while its fleet grew from 70K+ associates to about 1M registered. For Prime Video Live Events I built the pipelines that put sports data from several providers into one graph. In Fulfillment Technology it was warehouse data services. On a fulfillment simulation framework I removed the bottlenecks and cut simulation execution time by 85%, and before that I led the launch of the Seller Profile page on Amazon.com.
Then came three and a half years at PayPal. I owned technical reconciliation for Lynx, the in-house card processing platform: the system that proves every transaction is accounted for through every processing stage.
I left PayPal in March 2026. Now I build and run nextbookinorder.com, a reading-order catalogue for book series. It's where I learned where an LLM fabricates and how to measure that. It also showed me how much of a pipeline has to stay deterministic around one.
What I'm looking for
A Staff or Lead backend role on a team with hard data problems. Event-driven pipelines, change data capture and reconciliation are where I'm strongest.
I'm open to remote roles in the US and hybrid roles in Austin.
